Speaking as someone who has some metal and plastic in my right knee, you have my urgent wishes for a speedy uncomplicated recovery. She will need to do everything the therapist tells her to get her strength and mobility back and then some. Be a slave to her every wish.

Prayers for her swift recovery!! In January at the South Bay Scottish Society's Burns supper I happened to end up at the same table with a man in his 40s who had had a hip replaced a few years previous, also due as I recall to a birth defect. He was SO happy he'd had it done.

They're very good with these procedures these days in terms of being able to get both legs the same length.

And for myself: At this very time four weeks ago today, I was about 3 hours past my own hip replacement due to osteoarthritis. No idea what caused it, everything but the right hip was perfectly fine; but the cartilage had been totally gone from it for about a year. As of this morning, while my cane is still occasionally useful, I no longer really need it to walk with a smooth and normal-looking gait.

May your wife's recovery move along as swiftly!!
