I just received my cut of this cloth and it is just AMAZING!!! But of course now I'm in a conundrum.....Do I make a tank which this material is begging me too, or do a box pleat and have material left over for when my daughter comes (I have a son and a daughter who live in South Africa that visit me once a year) in a week and help her start her kilt making career?

I'm glad you're pleased as well.

This is a problem. Before you came on board I was planning on packing that length away for when my son comes of age. Seeing it go to another's child would be pleasing, but you can also do what I will do if Little Man is keen about my kilt when that day comes. I will get an identical length woven. Personally, although I will make/have made a tank with this material, I do think it would make a beautiful box pleat. ... That doesn't help though, does it?

I took the time to pin together some pleating options a few days ago and must confess that this cloth has a wonderful hand. It feels like it's just begging to take a pleat.. Not that the Marton Mills fabric is bad or anything, but this feels an order of magnitude better.

    Now to decide.

Here are pics of my double box pleated kilt made from this tartan it's simply wonderful stuff. I am afraid the pictures don't half do it justice.

I don't think the flash photography has been as kind to this fabric as it deserves. I caught it in diffused sunlight the other day and got a very good likeness of its true personality.

I posted these in the Show Us Your Pics section, but I might as well add to the fray here. I'm wearing this kilt as I speak...The more I wear it, the more I fall in love with these wonderful colors....Majestic truly!

I spread the cloth out and spent some time measuring. It looks like it will have to be pleated to the red stripe between the black and blue fields in order to us the fabric efficiently. I should be able to get started sewing by month's end.
