from Chicago. I live in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and so a kilt is looked on as just one more ethnic garb. There are several other kilt wearers in the 'hood. But I've also worn my kilt in a small rural town in western Illinois just wandering around Main Street on a Saturday.

The Dalles. Ever passed through? It's not that small, but everybody here is convinced that it is. I say it's too small to be a big town, too big to be a small town. It's just a town, and a fairly nice one at that.

Yes, I've been to The Dalles, but just to get gasoline on way home from Spokane one time. It gets warm out there in the gorge during the summer, but very nice!
Welcome aboard. Perhaps you can make it to the Portland Highland Games the 3rd Saturday in July? http://www.phga.org/

Isn't it that really wide spot in the road between Mosier and Celilo?
