I'm sorry to hear of your mishap.

I've been trying to picture it in my mind, but I can't fathom how it could happen; so how does one run themselves over with a pickup??

Take the truck out of gear -- it's ok, there's a brick behind the tire - put it there last weekend. Try to start the truck. 1, 2, 3 tries - dang - battery's dead. Put the charger on. Oh look, rear tire is flat. Mutter grumble. Lug the compressor close enough to fill the tire. Start filling tire. [Note to self: a mostly flat tire will ooze over a brick.] Uh oh, she's rolling. Grab the open cab door and attempt to get right foot on brake. Too late. Hang on, we're rolling. (strangeness ensues) Somehow I ended up being dragged across the gravel driveway with my right leg hooked at the knee under the door into the cab. The left leg was pointing out the front of the truck with the driver side front tire sitting on top of it. My wife said the leg position was 10 past 9. Cell phone in back pocket - no help there [NTS: always wear blue-tooth.]Good lungs enabled me to summon help. Wife heard, neighbors heard, one even drove over in her SUV - which was then used to push the truck back forward so I could unhook my one leg and free the other. Paramedics also summoned. VERY interesting tire marks when the cut the pants leg off (shoulda been wearing a kilt). Trip to the hospital went quickly with 10mg of morphine in me. The emergency room folks were fully prepared for "old guy run over by truck" and seemed a touch disappointed that there were no broken bones, internal injuries, nor anything else of a "major time-critical emergency" nature. As it was, the inner thigh muscle was mega-smooshed (techie term) and caused my creatinine kinase (CK) level to skyrocket. This could lead to kidney failure so they kept me in observation for a couple of days, flushing my system via IV with gallons of saline solution, until the levels reduced enough to let me go home.

That's the tale of my "April Fools Day" and let me tell you, it was no joke, even if I WAS a fool.

After getting home, got a gift from my daughter's friend - a set of sturdy wheel chocks .

Unfortunately, pictures were not taken while I was in the 10 after 9 position under the truck tire. I wish they were because it's all just a touch (strange) in my memory . We do have some pics of the tire marks but they were taken at the hospital several hours after the event and are not near as impressive as when I first viewed them.

I've thought of maybe getting a model truck and a gumby doll to provide the visual -- let me tell you, I NEVER do the splits more than is necessary to get on the motorcycle - and I don't plan to ever again .
