Toronto Indoor Piping Competition April 2nd

There is a yearly piping competition on April 2nd at Mosspark Armoury ( home of The 48th Highlanders) if anyone is a fan of bagpiping its a good day to enjoy both band and solo competitions. You dont have to be a musician to enjoy it. I think it was a $5 sdmission fee last year, they had a bbq selling burgers and smokies as well as beer for a pretty cheap rate.

    Toronto Piping Competition

If any American pipe fans are at all interested, rest assured that the piping standard in this city is very very high. If this is your thing, it would be worth the trip. And you should absolutely, positively wear your kilt.

I was bounced on the knee of the 48th Pipe Major when I was a small child, (he and my father were friends) and there's been amazing continuity and consistency in that band alone since the end of the Second World War - which by the way was a SIX year affair for us.

Canada, remember, is Scotland's favourite child.

That would be Peter's twin brother Archie - about 1956 I guess. There's a picture around someplace I found in my parent's house when we cleaned it out.

Peter played too I understand. The family string there goes all the way to the present I believe.

Yes it does. Sandy, Archie's son, was Pipe Major. His three sons: Colin, James and Iain are in the band with Iain as Pipe Seargent. Iain is on loan to the Toronto Scottish right now where he is Pipe Major. The Tor Scots P&D are reforming under his direction.
