Sorry I wont be Kilted, but without a wool kilt, the acrylic and PV ones become a safety hazard in the forge.
You just need to get yourself a leather one

Not when your average day at Scarborough is triple digits... I sweat when I look a picture of something warm.

Though I have often dreamed of making a canvas one with a leather apron.

Maybe that firefighter canvas stuff I saw on another thread? 'Twould be fun anyway.

I know what you mean about heat -- I haven't had to deal with triple-digits since I left Phoenix 26 years ago -- and will strive to never have to again

Makes you wonder if some of those bum rolls have AC units in them. Really got to feel for the staff in full garb.

At least the playtrons can get away with lighter outfits and after all the kilt has a hole in the bottom for air flow

My Lady made a lot of the costumes you see on the cast out there. One thing she did was to sew in pockets on the insides of the jerkins, doublets and bodices for ice packs to keep the cast cool.

And actually, I have learned from living with a historical seamstress that hoop skirts were designed to keep the wearer cool. It keeps the fabric off the body and as the hoops swing, it creates airflow.

I wear 10th century Viking garb in all Linen with Rus style trousers because they are very large and billowy and allow for good airflow. There are 4 yards of fabric in my trousers. lol.

Every little bit helps out there at Scarbie... especially when you are standing next to a 1800 degree fire all day.
