Camouflage gear supplier never heard of kilts?

1): I've seen it said, meaing I've read, that original tartan was in effect a form of camouflage.

2): No one has brought up the possibility that the original author's first language is not English. His vocabulary might be limited for that reason, which would also explain the misspellings of whether/weather.

3): Nobody better call my kilt a skirt unless it's very obviously from a postion of ignorance or misspeaking, both of which I've encountered in a peaceful manner.

You guys scoff, but 300 years from now there very well could be movies of camo kilted Scotsmen in some ridiculous reimagining of Braveheart or the Jacobite era (or more likely a remake of Bravo 2-0).

Very true, given that the original Braveheart movie consisted of the ridiculous reimagining that Robert the Bruce and William Wallace, among others in the movie, wore kilts!

One thing I've always wondered about paintball: if you're hit in the apron, fore or aft, does it count as a hit? With trousers it would have just passed between your legs.

I've also wondered about what it's like to be kilted and take a paintball in the position where a sporran normally hangs, or do paintballers wear a stainless, steel plated version of the sporran? Kevlar perhaps?

I remember the episode of Futurama where Fry and the gang went to some sort of 20th century museum that had cowboys wrangling dinosaurs, flying model-Ts, and all sorts of other anachronistic mash-ups similar to what we do today in period pieces of a sufficiently remote era.

If you guys can find a copy, there was a comedic/satiric sci-fi novel from the 1990s that had a lot of fun with the idea of 'future-anacronysims': the title was "Mallworld" (motto of Mallworld: 'we're the mall the size of a planet'). The author had an impossible name, so you'll know when you see it. I mean if you haven't already.

On topic, I'm not totally surprised to hear about somebody seemingly unaware of kilts. I have personally encounterd people that made the same claim, some of them had to be assured by third parties that I wasn't making the thing up.
