Sour is some sort of citrus, often lemon or lime. Sweet would be sugar, strong would be the Rum, and weak I had originally heard was water but then I saw an episode of Good Eats where Alton Brown said that weak was really black tea.


Interesting, but I think it was more detailed than that. I recall the history professor explaining the process of making sugar and molasses, and that the sugar was in some kind of hard, cone shape that was cut into chunks with a pair of pinchers or something like that.
It was about seventeen or eighteen years ago, so hard to remember.
