Beautiful. Understatement is the essence of real style, something too many forget or ignore. I have a similar jacket/vest from Kinloch Anderson and find it superbly versatile. A change of tie and it's perfect for any occasion other than "casual" or "formal evening dress". Enjoy.....Robbie

And there is nothing wrong with having the bottom waistcoat button fastened.

My understanding is that 5-buttons are fastened all the way down, for 6-buttons the bottom one is left open.

There is no "must" here, but generally speaking we in the Highlands wear highland attire with the bottom button of the waistcoat done up. Saxon attire is another matter entirely.

You look like one of those models on the Scottish-attire web pages...

I know it was intended as a compliment...but I find that many (if not most) models on Scottish Attire webpages are FAR from what I aspire to look like. Jackets are frequently poorly fitted (sleeves too long, boxy looking torso), sporrans are too low or too high and very commercial, kilts are frequently "dress" tartans, etc etc....the list goes on an on.

I will say, Spartan, that you look much BETTER, than a model off of a website. I questioned whether you were wearing a dress tartan at first, but then I read and saw what tartan it is...no issues.

longhuntr74: In part it may be where each of us is on the nattiness spectrum. Speaking for myself, I would be happy to look as good as *any* of those models. But, I'm still learning how to put the kilt on properly, though I now pretty much remember that the pleats go in the back. ;-)
