Cessna,
I'm not accusing Woot22 of being intentionally provocative, but the very nature of the link we're discussing is a comparison of political systems, so perhaps it should have been closed outright?
I personally think it's an interesting topic, but I soppose if it's allowed to go on it would get reported by the usual members, and shut down soon enough anyway.

Hi folks,
Perhaps a bit of insight from up here in the cheap seats will be helpful.
Please remember that it is usually not the original post that gets a thread closed. It is when others attempt to take a thread in a direction different from the original post
This is a thread about an article, on a group of people in California, who call themselves Monarchists.
If the thread stays on the topic of the article there should be no problem. Is it a good article? Is it well worded and presented?
But quite often a member will start a thread onto the path of doom by interjecting their own, personal belief or bias.
This is all the Moderators are saying when they "Fire a shot across the bow" of a thread. A gentle reminder not to allow the thread to be taken off the topic of the original post
This thread is not about the rightness or wrongness of Monarchies. It is about an article.
Yes, we have a History and Heritage section of the forum but that is because history and heritage are a large part of why some choose to wear the kilt.
The fact remains that this is a kilt forum. We all know that this is a very narrow subject field and does not encompass the entire realm of human experience.
The strength of this forum is that we have kept true to our original owner, Hank, and his vision of providing a place for us to share and discuss kilts. We have kept the forum focused on our chosen subject and attempted to avoid the pitfalls so common on the internet where anything goes.
We are a kilt forum. We are not a History forum. We are not a Monarchy forum. For those who wish to share and discuss those topics there are many forums on the internet where those are the chosen topic.
Here, all we politely ask of our members is to stay focused on the original topic. We politely ask you to leave your Politics, Religion and Weapons at the door.
