Your Childhood Memories of Scotland?

Yes, it's a little depressing. Not one person who grew up in Scotland has shared memories of growing up in Scotland. I did manage to tie it back to Scotland, though.

I'm not sure what to make of it...

I grew up in western North Carolina. We swam in the lake in the summer, made mud pies, split firewood, handed hay, chased cattle, hoed corn, built houses, canned foods for the winter, and other light chores.
How's that for childhood memories?

Me, I thought it was better that it go somewhere than nowhere. And I did learn a fair bit about Belle and Sebastien. But nothing about Scottish treehouses, nor even regular ones.

I suspect you may have encountered the famous 'British reserve'. I had an honourary uncle who spent three years bunking with a Brit in a German POW camp and he claimed that at the end of the war still didn't know if the man had siblings or was married or not.

It seems you might be taking it too much to heart if you think people are offended by asking about such things. They are more likely just not willing to respond or, of course, may have nothing to say. This does not translate to commiting an offense in British terms, at least so far as I understand it. Or if it did, the social parts of the internet would dry up if people worried about it.

OK, I know I was fooled once before by a sort-of-similar remark made by you, I believe it was on the topic of the Elder Gods of Lovecraft, but anyway....
