Wow...wow wow, and wow! I've seen several bluish/greyish tweed jackets and have never been a big fan. I have to say that I'm in love with your Jacket! It just jumped high up on my list.

I also am extremely envious of your sporran...along the lines of what I want Scott to make for me if I ever have some spare cash and he ever decides to make a Hexagonal shaped cantle (vs. his current round ones).

Only criticism is the same that you received regarding the regulation doublet...you must have short arms!! Sleeves are a bit long...but that's easy enough to fix (though it adds to the cost of the jacket for sure!).

Yes I do have have short arms compared to my barrelled chest and shoulders. I am usually a 25" sleeve, but I ordered a 46" chest jacket from Rocky. (all my other jackets are 44", with 25" sleeves and are snug) the extra 2" in the chest and thus across the shoulders is very comfortable, but lets the sleeves drop longer than with the 44" jackets. I am however very pleased with the jacket and waistcoat and will get the sleeves altered. As I said in my opening post, USA kilts did a superb job with service and quality of product and I thank them again.

I am about to order the same tweed in the style of my Kinloch-Anderson tweed jackets. I normally wear a 42 regular in Kinloch's sizing and in my American suit jackets and casual blazers, would you recommend that I order up a size to 44 regular in this style of jacket made by Lochcarron?

That kyle, is a very good question. On Usa Kilts site it is recommended that you may want to go up a size. I went up from 44 to 46 as I has ordered jackets from the UK in the past and they were a firm fit. I guess I am a true 45, so if I want something, "Off the Rack " so as to speak, then it's a comprimise either way ( USAK jackets are supplied by StKilda and a 44 that I ordered several years ago from Stkilda was the one that was a firm fit)

If you are 42R with jackets made in the UK in the the past and a 42R with sports jackets made in the USA, I would probably go with the 42R.

I would suggest you chat with your supplier to get their idea on the sizing of the jackets they sell

Thank you for the advice, mate! I am ordering my new jackets from Rocky at USA Kilts. I sent him a quick e-mail to see if he had a size chart, so I can compare the measurements with that of Kinloch's 'off-the-peg' jackets.

Here's the sizing info we're going to put on the new site (once it goes live):

For the number part of the jacket size:

This measurement is best taken using a cloth tape measure, while wearing a t-shirt.
Lift up your arms and wrap the tape measure around your chest at the widest point (you can then put your arms down).
Breathe "normally" and don't over inflate or exhale too much.
Take the measurement (not snug) at the widest part of your chest.
Add 2" to 3" to that number to reach the next "even" number up. Example: If you measure 43 to 44, you would order a size 46. If you measure 41 or 42, you would order a size 44.

If you don't know the length (i.e. Short / Regular / Long), then please use this general guide:

5' 4" to 5' 9" - Short
5' 10" to 6' 2" - Regular
6' 3" to 6' 7" - Long
