My husband had been planning to take a much-needed day off, and when he heard I was interested in watching the wedding on TV he decided to join me. I'm looking forward to it -- I think it'll be fun! All the historical costuming blogs I follow have really been posting like crazy with entries about historical wedding attire, and photos and paintings of the royal garments and jewelry. So I've been lucky in that I've not heard lots of the gossipy-type stuff flooding me, but rather the historical, interesting, and fun bits of information.

My wife and I both intend to watch the wedding, she a bit more enthusiastically than me.
She has been enjoying a royal series on TV (mostly re-runs of old programmes, but some new material, too) and has hopes of sitting through the entire ceremony.
I will probably have the TV on, but am likely to find myself with other things to do some of the time.
With regard to the royal succession: while there is a regularly updated list of how the succession runs, it is considered bad form to speculate on who will next wear the crown and when.
The Queen might outlive Charles, which would make William the heir apparent. But it is unlikely that Charles will abdicate (despite the many rumours to this effect).
While William and Kate are childless, Harry is next in line after him. Once a child is born, Harry will move down the list.
There have been occasions in the past when the succession has moved unpredictably (during the Wars of the Roses; when James II quit London in a hurry; while Queen Anne was making up her mind about her successor; and when King Edward VIII abdicated), but generally it has been a case of “The King [or Queen] is dead. Long live the King [Queen]!”
Who will be the next President of the United States?
Regards,
Mike

I was just watching the news at nine pm here - the excitement of the crowds on The Mall is reaching fever pitch already with - what - 14 hours to go.
The most enthusiastic ones seem to be of American origin - though lots of women of a certain age think the princes are 'just lovely'.
It will probably be a good day to go shopping tomorrow, empty aisles with everyone glued to the TV or having a barbecue, or both.

Those Benson cartoon make me yawn.
All I can say is that they were interviewing many enthusiastic Americans on the streets of London today on the BBC.
I will be looking for kilted guests on the TV tomorrow. And will of course be kilted myself.

I find the history and traditions of the British monarchy to be quite cool, and the royal wedding will be a spectacle very worth watching.
Still and all, I must extend a hearty "Thank You!" to Tom Jefferson, John Adams, Geo. Washington, Ben Franklin, et al....

It's almost midnight, and according to the TV news there is a street party all along the route of the procession, 1600 portaloos have been shipped in from Wales and distributed by some young fellows with lovely accents. There are cameras on the streets and interviewers roaming around talking to people in the crowds.
There are thousands sleeping on the streets, traffic is almost at a standstill around the abbey, and the last few feet of the red carpet are about to be rolled out, from the railings out to the curb.
There are men painting things in the streets to have everything pristine for tomorrow.
I have bought some plants which will require planting tomorrow, so I will be in the garden, but a lot of people will be having the time of their lives waving flags.
At least one newspaper has printed the order of service so that people can follow every word and join in the hymns.
It is a pity that the weather is not quite as good as it has been for the last few weeks - which have been glorious. I know I will be glad to have a comfortable bed tonight.

I hope this joke is comprehensible in the UK.
As an engineer I often catch myself sarting off an answer with 'Depends.
Probably not a good idea to answer The Question with 'Depends.
