    Scotweb Delivers As Advertised

Gentlefolk: I ordered a made-to-measure PC from Scotweb for my son. He has long arms. The ordering process went smoothly, though Visa (Chase) charged me a rather exorbitant "international transaction fee" (be forewarned). I'll try Discover next time.

The web pages and Scotweb's confirmation emails worked flawlessly. The process included a couple of inevitable routine interactions with Scotweb's support personnel who were knowledgeable and helpful in every case.

The PC was finished during the week quoted by Scotweb, shipped to me by private courier at my request (and at extra cost), and arrived in a week with no additional charges of any kind.

Most importantly, the PC is as advertised in every way. It fits perfectly and looks great! I'll post a picture when we get one. My son and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Thanks to all the folks at Scotweb! We'll be back ...
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

The 1% international transaction fee is a standard fee that most credit cards charge. SOME banks absorb that charge when you use your bank card.

Sorry for the OT. Glad to hear the jacket arrived as advertised with no issues!

I have not been successfull at using my Discover card oversees much although this year I have heard that there are a lot more places accepting them. Will find out in person when we go to London in three weeks. In the past I have use my American Express which, depending on your particular account, will often not charge transaction fees, besides providing a whole host of other consumer protection benefits. Lastly, if dealing directly with a foreign vendor, you can ask to have them charge your card in USD rather than GBP, which saves you the transaction fee and actually puts it on their bank---you would be amazed at how many vendors will actually do this just to get oversees business.

Rocky: Thanks for the information. It was my first-ever international transaction, so this time I can plead ignorance.

Jeff: Thanks for the tips. I suspect that Scotweb does not take Discover cards simply because I don't use Visa unless a vendor doesn't take Discover.
