Now that is mud! Looks as if you both had to wade in it almost up to your necks!
I take my hat off to you both.

Actually the last obstacle is a long pit of mud, averaging about three feet deep, but there are rows of barbed wire strung about a foot above it. You have to crawl under the barbed wire through the mud. It was a blast!!!

Good stuff and great job! I am registered for a Warrior Dash in September and I will be kilted. I love this kind of thing.

All right, last two pics, I promise (at least until next year) :
Jumping the fire, and
Crossing the finish line.

Love it, wildcat The fire pics are always the best. Glad y'all had fun. Those runs are a blast. I think the Warrior Dash is by far the muddiest one I've done. But getting all that mud out from between the pleats is a PAIN!!!
Why are you retiring the kilt? Did it not hold up very well, or just for memento sake?

I decided to buy a Stillwater Thrifty kilt for $30, because I didn't want to risk ruining a more expensive kilt. I knew that I wouldn't wear it again even if it did hold up, because it was a very light-weight material, it didn't have sewn-down pleats, it didn't have buckle closures, etc.
Did it hold up? Pretty much, yes. There were a few holes left from the bib number pins that tore out going over obstacles. The velcro closure was a little worn out from all of the mud and gravel that got into it.
It may not be worn again, but I do have plans for it, so it won't be going in the trash.
Next year, I plan to wear a kilt again. It will probably be a Stillwater Thrifty. Maybe a different tartan? We'll see.

Pictures had me checking into one in my area, and I hate running. Do they supply something large and toothy to chase me for motivation or do I need to supply my own? Looks like a blast though.

I don't think I have run this much since high school, or possibly earlier. I'm more of a beer drinking, cigar smoking, work at a desk, couch potato sort of guy. I just kept telling myself that there was beer and turkey legs at the finish-line. Seriously though, this is not a serious race (for most of the runners). Give it a try, it was FUN! You'll be fine.
