    Liquor shipment help

    Hi all,
I have a bottle of tequila that is of rare stock but means a great deal to me. I would chop off a appendage to get one or two. I know of only 4 or 5 left in the world. My issue is this: the bottles are at package stores across the country. I live in Massachusetts but have family in Connecticut. Does anyone know of a LEGAL way for me to get the tequila shipped to me? Is there a special license I can get? Any help is appreciated.

    Hmmm.

Not sure about direct sales of liquor to individuals Cower, but it seems your local liquor store could order it for you and you could pick it up at their business when it arrives. May be worth a try.

    Good luck,
    Brooke

I've not heard of any liquor besides the "mason jar variety" that is illegal to transport over state lines.

It is illegal to ship alcoholic beverages via US Mail, period. Federal Felony. Been on the books since Prohibition, still on the books. I guess some bootleggers tried it and got caught.

It is legal to ship yeast and barley samples via UPS/ Fedex / DHL and so forth. I imagine agave would be similar. You might google up a couple beeer clubs or wine clubs to see how they get the product to your door.

Do NOT use the US Mail.

When there's the will, there is a way

Realize I am new but the stars may be aligning. What type of booze and how far west is it available. I live in PA but nearly all my siblings are in CT and I have a daughter in Boston. I will be in TX next week then CT and Boston in July. See the math coming together?

When the bottle shop operator advised you that it was illegal to ship that particular liquor, they may have been referring to local or state laws. Thus, it might have been legal (under federal rules) to ship the tequila by say FedEx to you, but your state (or the shipper's) may require that everything over some arbitrary alcohol percentage has to go through specific channels.

Correct. It's my state law that's the issue not theirs. What channels would you be referring to?

    ROAD TRIP!!!!

Or just book a flight. Boston to L.A. is $300. Take a weekend (or long weekend) and just go in person to collect your prize.
