Seems like you have to wear the correct hat to go with the beard.

Shaved mine off last night. It's just too darn hot in the summer here to have any more insulation than what is absolutely necessary.

Well done, Dale. You look very disinguished!
As for the monkeytail, it is just weird, and looks as though he had been drinking (or smoking) something just before shaving.
The fox hat is something I don’t think I will take up.
Joshua, your beard must be very different from mine, which insulates me – against the cold in winter, and against the heat in summer.
Regards,
Mike

I feel the same way!
More importantly, i have a strong aversion to the sight of my own blood. I'm OK with your blood. Mine---do not want.
Finally, the phrase "salt in the wounds" is not, unfortunately, a metaphor but literal truth when I shave my face in summer. Ouch!
In short, I gave up shaving about 35 years ago. I don't miss it in the least. Mine is not a high-maintenance beard: i trim it twice a year, whether it needs it or not.

That was a major motivation for me to quit shaving. And when I had given it up and was then forced to shave by the military, I tended to cut myself more often.
As for salt in the wounds, I recall that experience, too.

Mike

How do you cut yourself? I have been shaving my face for 15 years and my whole head for 10. I can count on one finger how many times I "cut" myself. I have only "nicked" myself twice.
Forgot to add that I have also been shaving the southern hemisphere for the last 3 or so years.

Thanks Syd forthe thought and visual----now I think I am turned off to red fox for life, altthough at first glanceI kind of liked the look (not).
Interestingly in my 20s I sported a full grizzly Adams like number 5 in the gallery---it took longer to wash, condition and brush the beard out than it did the hair on my head, which was also kinda long then by today's standards. Funny part was when I shaved it off I went though several stages of doing so that I looked like several of these gentlemen on sequential days as I slowly carved off small sections at a time, photoing each new look for posterity's sake. Too bad it was in the film days and I cannot find either the pics or the negs right now. Sometimes I miss those days. Just the goatee left now, and all grey at that.

Hi, imnothing – you ask why I cut myself shaving.
First of all I loathe electric razors. When I have used them, they have never cut cleanly, and once I was even cut by one.
Secondly, when a blade razor is fresh (sharp) it cuts exceedingly well – so well that when one is used to a blunt (dull) one, it is easy to slip and cut oneself.
In any case, it is just too much hassle to shave at all.
I wash my beard when I shower, and unlike Jeff (Forrester Modern) I have no trouble with blow-drying it. Once the soap is rinsed out, I towel it dry, and then apply Brylcreem, then I brush my hair and my beard. Simple.
Regards,
Mike
