I had a friend write a letter to the MacLeod clan, asking permission to wear one of our tartans. He got a very gracious reply thanking him for his good manners, stating that he was welcome to wear it, and inviting him to join the clan society. It seems to me that basic courtesy goes a long way. I am of direct Scots lineage, MacLeod as stated above, and personally, I see it as flattering when someone not of my clan likes our tartan and respects our history enough to want to go to the trouble and expense of getting a kilt in one of our tartans.

Well, personally, I have no objection should you choose to wear a MacQueen tartan. Just do so with pride and style.

    MacQueen it is.

Thanks to all for the hearty welcome and the support. When the $ is there, I will make the leap and will wear it with pride. Til then, will continue to wear the Irish National.
