Vancouver Canada.
Greetings and Salutations from Vancouver BC Canada.
I just ordered my new kilt and looking forward to getting it from Scotland. I was born in Cumbria close to Carlisle, and as my grandfather used to say to me "...Just because the cat had kittens in the oven,it donna make them pies. I wore a kilt until I was 5 years old and then was forced to ware short pants when I started school. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was 9 years old. I spoke Gaelic until I started school and but was caned if I was caught speaking Gaelic, with the result I have forgotten the language. My Mother, now living in Canada, is 97 years old and when I can get to see her she slips back into Gaelic. I can understand her but have difficulty speaking it.
I live in Vancouver Canada on the West Coast and love it. The city is so multicultural. I am looking forward to getting back into a kilt again.
We do have a Celtic community here and also once a month Doolans Pub holds a kilt night. I don't know much about it but will be showing up there one night for sure.
I am proud of my Heritage and will work hard to promote it in this fabulous city.
I know I have a lot of questions regarding the kilt and I am sure I can find the answers in this forum.
From what I have read so far you are truly have some great members.
Thank you for the privilege of allowing me to join your community.

Welcome from just a bit southeast of you. I was never caned for speaking a different language to English. It was for several words I spoke in English that landed me in trouble . . . and they were Bible words too. The Reverend said one of them 9 times one Sunday morning, in church, and I counted. It did not seem fair to me at the time, but that was before I understood the importance of context.
In any event, welcome and best wishes to you, friend!
