    No need to stick with solid colour ties. Stripes, dots, paislies, foulards, etc all work well.

    I couldn’t agree more!

    Regarding your outfits, I much prefer the second picture with the blue kilt. I have no problem with your choice of yellow flashes (I am trying to arrange a pair myself, to go with a new kilt I have ordered), although there would be no harm in wearing red either.
