    Those hose are fan-damn-tastic!

Seriously nice for a white/black outfit.

I'll also chime in and say I like the look of the silk cravat with the sheriffmuir and also that I really like the choice of black and white diced hose!

I'm also not a fan of tartan flashes, though. So if I were to change one thing I'd say go with solid garters or flashes. A deep maroon to match the main color of the kilt would look great.

Bar buckle brogues. John Hart at Keltoi has them.

Are they too kitschy? Too non-traditional? Are they as tacky as having tartan luggage straps? I'm very open to alternatives, I just like to know why. Thanks for your help!

Matt didn't mention that the Scottish Tartans Museum sells just the things (I'm anxiously waiting for my first pair to arrive). Because the colour match probably wouldn't be exact, I'd go with another of the colours in your kilt, such as yellow, charcoal, or even black. Maybe consult your bride to be on that particular choice...

Just as Davidlpope says, Buckle Brogues would be my first choice.

A number of suppliers carry them, such as ScotWeb, Reidkilts, Highland Clans, and others.

And I hope to see pictures of the big day!

Not a fan of the open-topped buckle straps...If there were some that were solid from toe to ankle, with a buckle across the top...I could really dig those.

Congratulations on assembling such a fine looking outfit for your upcomming nuptuals. I would agree with others that buckle brogues and plain flashes would be the way to go. The sheriffmuir is particularly striking, well done and cheers.

First and foremost- I love the socks! Those look fantastic with that outfit. Second, I'll be the voice of dissent and say that I personally love ghillie brogues... just not with a doublet. These, http://jas-townsend.com/product_info...roducts_id=244 , I think would look much better. Buckle brogues are the only shoes that really look right with a doublet like that. Of course, I have to point out that my taste in shoes is biased by the fact that I'm involved in living history... Other than the shoes, you look excellent!
