That is a well thought through look. I even think the ghillie brogues look tremendous and I hate the damn things (on me!). The only thing I'd loose is the flashes. You don't need them. Those hose are more than strong enough on their own without any trimmings. As I say, great look. Nice one!

Those are just like the JAS Townsend ones I suggested. I, too, think they can be construed as costumey, given the fact that they're a historical style and not a modern one, but personally, I like to wear box pleated kilts over modern knife pleated kilts... and those are a more historical style, too.

So personally, I see no reason to be concerned with potential costume look, as long as it's not blatant costume look- like Jacobite shirts...

And one other comment (not criticism) that I have is simply the flashes. I don't think they look bad at all- in fact, I personally like tartan flashes, again being contrary

- but the overall outfit would look a little better with more traditional garter ties, and you would actually find them more comfortable, I'm betting. I know that with my freakishly huge calves, I certainly do! This guy, http://www.bigmikeyoriginals.com/ , makes them. I have a couple pair of his garters... and his hose tops... and he does exceptionally high quality work for a great price. JAS Townsend also sell garters, as does the Scottish Tartans Museum. They're three totally different types, though. I have garters from Mikey, and from JAS Townsend.Both are great and well worth the little extra cash.

Ya know... another thought on the garters... Those hose are strong enough to stand alone, really, without the extra flair. As per the hand tied garters as opposed to the tartan flashes. The hand tied are definately more traditional, look less like a rental shop attachment, and are damn comfortable. That being said your overal look is great. I really like the colours of the tartan, and the black and white hose are outstanding.

1)I agree about losing the flashes in favor of garters.
2)What about a stock or cravat in one of the colors in your tartan? I think that would look really snazzy.
3)I don't think you'll get any complaints here about Welsh tartans. The ones I've seen are really handsome.
4)The picture of your Sheriffmuir is just what I've been looking for lately. Thanks for posting it.
5)Can we get a shot of your pleats?

You look well put together.

Like others here, I prefer the traditional ties. They are more comfortable than the elastic garters.

If you aren't crazy about the buckle shoes, then a brogue like the one Cowher has suggested would work, as would a plain toe shoe. However, that being said, it's your wedding, if you want to wear the ghillies, then wear them. After all, the day is about your bride and you. Not what anybody else thinks. BTW, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials.
