    Trews with a morning coat???

I have seen tartan trews worn in Scotland with most highland jackets and also with dinner jackets, blazers and tweed jackets but this is the first time I have seen them worn with a morning coat. I have been involved with more than a few weddings here in Scotland, where both Anglo-Saxon and Scottish-Highland dress are worn, but never yet encountered this particular combination.

However, I have seen a grey waistcoat worn with Highland morning dress - black Argyle jacket with silver buttons - but this five-button waistcoat, like the jacket, was single breasted.

According to the Internets, that is David Jardine Patterson, heir to a Scottish landowning family, and the bride is Emilia d’Erlanger, one of Kate Middleton’s best friends. Not sure if that sheds any light or not.
