14th Annual Taste of Scotland festival in Franklin

Head's up! Get ready to attend the 14th annual Taste of Scotland festival in downtown Franklin, NC, June 17-19

    http://tasteofscotlandfestival.org/

As always, it will be a full day of music, food, dancing, and fun. And, as it has been for the past 14 years, absolutely FREE to attend!

Our honored guest this year is Darren Burgess, the Second Secretary for Scottish Affairs, British Embassy, Washington, DC.

Performers will include the Border Collies, the Dunham Family Band, John Mohr MacKintosh Pipes & Drums, Caledonian Swing, and others. We'll have border collie demonstrations, reenactors, dancers, and much more.

Please mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!

There will also be delicious frozen beverages, which Abigail and I will make for you.

...you want to come now, don't you?

That does up the ante, I suppose. Will said frozen beverages be of a certain nature?

If you've never been to this festival, it's worth the trip. The times I have been, I have seen (and been part of) the Rabble gathering in and around the Museum, and often answering the questions that Matt and Ronan are busy answering for someone else.

...only if you make them of that certain nature after-market, I'm afraid.

I hope to be able to be there since I missed you both at Maryville's Smoky Mtn Games last Sat.
Where will those delicious frozen beverages be available?

We'll look forward to seeing you there! As far as we know, said beverages will be available, along with some baked goods and various other things, somewhere near the Museum. Probably out in the street, I hear... I think they plan to close off Main Street this year. Saturday's the day, and the odds of missing us this time are almost nonexistant!

Well, there's always the Franklin Inn, but I know a lot of people stay at the Microtel, too:

I don't know if B&Bs are your thing, but if so, my parents love to stay at the the Blaine House:

...in fact, I think they'll be staying there that weekend. If there're openings, it's a wonderful place to stay. Actually, you can really walk from there to the ToS.

Thanks for posting those recommendations, Ryan.

And, of course I'll point out that there is a "Places to Stay" link in the menu of the festival web site.

    Sure thing.

I didn't know about that link, but it's reminded me of what a nice place Mill Creek is to stay, also. Another good option.

There is no shortage of fine lodging in Franklin.

inquiring minds would like to know...

With the two one way streets that run through the downtown Franklin business district, one being Main Street which will be closed for the festival, makes me wonder where does a festival visitor park?

The festival web site says Free Parking, but doesn't say where it is. Are there directions to parking with shuttles to the festival?
