Hey Ladies, what shoes? Casual occasion.

Firstly, I'm sure this has been discussed before, so I apologize for the re-hash.
Our local highland games are this weekend and I want to wear my "faux kilt" (read: short, pleated, plaid skirt). What shoes? Normally with this skirt I'd wear knee height, high heeled boots or wedge sandals. But that seems a little much for this event. You never know, I may want to enter the Ladies Sheaf Toss.

Sooo, combat boots? Motorcycle boots? Heck, cowboy boots? Clogs? Converse Chucks? Flip flops (kidding, sort of, ...not really)? I'm not really a loafer or flats girl.

It's a dark tartan, worn w/ a tank top (most likely)

Alas, I don't have a pic of my skirt becuase I'm at work, where my mind, of course, wandered to shoes.

Go with comfort, so that'll be what? The combat boots or the chucks, right? ;)

Clogs could look cute too depending on what you wear them with. (I found some really cute socks at Target I can't wait to wear with my ladies kilt once I manage to fit into it.)

You're going to be outside where it's warm and dry. If it were my wife, she'd wear her Keen sandals.

It's too bad Ali doesn't visit the forum anymore, she knows about these things.

I think some of my lady friends wear Clogs, Birkenstocks, sandals, etc, etc, and a few wear combat boots, one lady friend back in college (the nineties) wore those hiking boots all the time. It's just that I'm not sure if they wear skirts that often though.

I always wear sandals with the kilt unless I'm indoors and wearing hose, then I wear an appropriate flat shoe, and heels with the long kilt skirt.

Although the knee boots sound very interesting indeed, I'll bet the clogs would be more comfortable. My wife would definately wear them.

and while I can't find the picture, I know of one of my friend Elissa, who is pretty trim, wearing a plain white sleeveless cotton t-shirt blouse, a sportkilt, and flip flops and she looks *Great*. But then, Elissa has the legs to get away with this.

MacMans wife seems to have gotten this causal short kilt skirt thing "down" as every picture I've ever seen of her, looks great.

Anyway, if you like boots, wear 'em...

    Fromn the USA Kilts website

You could also try the white knee sox and black dance ghillies look but that does kind of explore territory that you might not be comfortable in.

If you have a pair of comfortable black flats, that works, thoough I know you said you weren't a flats kinda girl.

The women athletes mostly all wear athletic shoes of some sort of another. Jeannette Grace is a local lady, the mighty mite and she actually wears a real kilt, as in mens length, not a mini kilt. She goes bare-legged with athletic shoes and I always think she looks great. She's not some huge monster, either.

Adriane Blewitt is the current womens world champ and she wears a full kilt with knee socks and flashes no less, pretty often, and I think she looks phenomenal.

sometimes Adriane skips on the socks and goes bare-legged, with athletic shoes. Then again, Adriane is not your average woman.

Here's the field at the womens world championships showin' who's got it going on under the kilt...

So you can see that both sox/no sox works just fine.
