    Louisiana Tartan Kilt--Kingussie Pleated

My patience has finally been rewarded! Yesterday, after the last day of school for students, I had a package waiting in my apartment complex office. So I get it inside and open it up, and... black tissue paper... "Matt," I say to myself "you made it like Christmas!" under the paper was my first Kingussie pleated kilt, and in the Louisiana tartan no less! (along with my tartan remnant).

That night I was going to be teaching Highland Broadsword class, so I figured that I would wear it to go fencing. So these photos are mostly right before I left--hence the no kilt hose (waaay too hot to mess with that exercising). I'm also including a fencing video from lastnight that shows you some of the kilt's "waggle". But you can't make out much in the way of detail unfortunately. Anyway, needless to say that Matt has done another excellent job. I'm a completely satisfied customer and I intend to do further business with Matt, New House Highland, and the STM in the future. The only issue that may occur to some is the waiting period to have your kilt made. However, if you can tough it out, you will receive a superior product to anything that you could receive in a fraction of the time.

Thanks for the pics, Jamie! Can't wait to see it a little more dressed up, too. I hope it was a hit with your class.

Matt, shouldn't that be a "touch" with his class? Unless, of course, he's fighting sabre, in which case it could be a slash as well.

Looks good. I've never seen the LA tartan before...really good choice.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

Either I can't tell from the picture, or more likely I don't know what im looking for--can someone describe the pleating pattern so I can "see" what im looking at?

Beautiful kilt, by the way. (Sorry I just don't know how to recognize the pleat pattern, not that it matters since it just looks fantastic to me).

Here is a good place to start.

There is a center box pleat, then each side of the kilt has knife pleats pointing toward the front. This is different than a normal knife pleat where all the pleats follow around the kilt in one direction (normally counter-clockwise).

There is a center box pleat and knife pleats moving out from there in opposit directions towards the front of the kilt.

The advantage to this is little or no bunching of the pleats when you sit. Further, the beauty of the kilt. The center box pleat shows more of the sett than the knife pleats and so looks different from the other pleats giving it a distinct look.
