I just got a pair of these bad boys. Florsheim Imperial Kenmoor. Gotta love those Wisconsin shoemakers!

I think they'll make an excellent shoe for kilt wear.

Greg, unless I'm wrong (which I have been known to be a time or two), your shoes were made in India, not Wisconsin (based on the company history I just reviewed, it says they were located in Illinois and Missouri). The Kenmoor is the only model of wingtip that I haven't checked out in my quest...but after first hand experiences with a $140 pair and a $90 pair, I won't even consider buying Florsheims anymore.

True, only Allen Edmonds are still made in Wisconsin. But I like the Florsheims because they have a leather sole, the right color, and were on sale for $85 at The Shoe Box.

Well for that price, they are probably a steal in comparison to other shoes at the same price point. At $225 (their list price), I wouldn't consider it. I don't begrudge anybody happiness with their shoes...and I truly do hope they give you years of service.
For that matter, I hope the same thing about my new Allen Edmonds. They were the color I was looking for with the sole color I was looking for. I am not a fan of brown shoes with dark/black sole edges. It looks off to me. I wore them probably about 10-11 times to school over the past month and the soles were worn down to the stitching on the outside edges already...hence my rush to get rubber outsoles added ASAP. They are quite comfortable...I will say that.
When it comes time to replace my Thistle Shoes brand and Florsheim brand black wingtips/brogues, I'll probably be looking at dropping some big bucks for Cordovan Aldens...but maybe I'll just stick with calf.

I have two pairs of Cordovan Allen Edmonds, the rest of my "dress" shoes are calfskin. To be honest, I find that I like the calf better, although the cordovan is a more durable leather.

I do like the brown soles on your shoes--hell, your new brogues are gorgeous. When my shoes need work (hopefully a long time from now) I may see what my cobbler can do about putting brown on. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy the ride!

David...did you ever locate the Black AE's that you thought you had in a 10E? Good feedback on the cordovan too.

Greg...Hell...it's probably just some dye/edge dressing. My hunch is that you might be able to take some steel wool to them and re-dress them in brown...maybe?

Coincidentally, I dropped mine off at the shoe repair place today to get the rubber added to the front of them. I have to go a whole week without them.
I agree, the full reconditioning AE does is really the way to go. Fortunately, I have two more pairs, however, they are not the Italian style of slip on that these are.
