As far as I can tell, I don't have images turned off. Having viewed the page in Internet Explorer, where I was able to view and click the red X, I no longer have the message at the top of page. Guess I'll simply need to use IE next time I have this issue.

    Back to lurking and learning!

    Regards,

    Ainslie

I, too, use Firefox 3.6.17 on Windows 7 (64-bit). The red X appeared clearly at the upper right-hand corner of the message until I selected it to disable presentation of the message. Perhaps you have an add-on that is interfering with the display of the red X? Maybe you can temporarily disable your add-ons?
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't click it when I was browsing the forum using Chrome on Android. I had to clear the message from Chrome on (I forget which machine) either XP or Vista. (I really need to get my slack box back up.)

I had no problem with Firefox 4.0.1 under XP.

When you turn it off using IE though the message shouldn't appear the next time you log in using Firefox.
