I have one. I love it- it's pure quality. The one and only complaint I have with it is that it's not lined. When next I buy one, I'll be spending the extra cash on a liner. The wool being belted tight to the skin is for me a little uncomfortable. Otherwise I never hesitate to recommend them when people ask.

I am waiting for my 5 yard in Kidd Ancient. I love my casual kilt from USAK, I can only imagine how much more I will enjoy the 5 yard wool.

Mael what is the weight of the 5 yrder that you have. I am a bit south of you in South Carolina, the temps right now are murder. Is that a summer kilt? or more of a fall wearing kilt?

Rocky made a 5 yarder for me in Dalgleish 16 oz. FitzPatrick Hunter this past winter, plus a skirt for my Girlfriend. It was a bit of a rush to get both done so we could get them in time to wear to a Burns weekend outing.
I goofed on my measurements (now, no more measuring during cocktail hour!). Rocky caught the mistake as soon as he saw the order, called me that morning and tackfully pointed out the error in my measuring skills.
Rocky got both done with time to spare and fit and finish were perfect.
As to the question of weight of my 5 yarder, it has a nice heavy feel to it when I pick it up, but I don't notice the weight at all while wearing it. Very comfortable. Just enough weight to feel the "swish factor" without feeling like I'm wearing alot of excess material.
I haven't had a chance to wear it in very warm weather yet, hope to soon, but I can say, back during the Burns Supper, when I went outside, it was below zero that night here in central NY and only my knees felt the cold !!!

I'm looking at a 5 yard kilt as well due to the extra tartan selection. Is it possible to get a liner on the 5 yard kilts? And if so what's the up-charge for it?
Thanks,

My 5 yarder came with a liner. Waist line down to about the hip line.

That's my impression too. As I mentioned earlier I now have two 5-yarders from Rocky, one medium & one heavy, and I like them both though my overall preference is for the heavyweight fabric. The heavyweight, in Douglas Grey, arrived last Monday, and I wore it for the first time at dinner Saturday evening following a day of martial-art training at a weekend training camp in the Marin Headlands. Here I am wearing it, at the restaurant with my buyu ("martial friends"):

Remy,
I recently purchased a 5 yard wool kilt in 13 oz. material from Rocky at USA Kilts and am very pleased with it. The kilt was pleated to “reverse sett” (with only 5 yards Rocky pleats the material to how he thinks best so don't ask for stripe or sett, just trust him). It 21 pleats that are about 3” deep. In comparison my Matt Newsome 5 yard knife pleated Galbraith Ancient tartan kilt has 16 pleats that are about 5” deep. The Matt Newsome kilt has a better “swish” with the deeper pleats but the USA kilt looks nicer and fuller with its more (though shallower) pleats. There were no basting stitches in the pleats to remove but the kilt came out the box with almost no wrinkles. The machine stitches were slim and while certainly not invisible like a hand sewn kilt, to my eyes were not particularly noticeable except very close up.
The 5 yard USA wool kilts represent an excellent value and a good way to economically get a good looking kilt, in scottish wool material, in any tartan you fancy.
Here is mine in the Nicholson Muted hunting tartan
Cheers
