so the security men would have been happy.
even though being kilted always brings a different type of security, i would not board a plane unless there was strict security but i am sure it brightened up the day to day routine of the security people by having so many kilted men to check

When travelling I used to carry a small emergency sewing kit. In it were some tiny safety pins that were less than 1/2inch long and they were taken as a potential weapon. Unless you're okay with leaving the kilt pin with some security agent I would put it in my checked luggage. As the man says "it's a pin."

I've made a circular metal magnetic kilt "pin" for aircraft travel. Sure it will have to come off for the metal detector, but can be replaced straight afterwards. Used a large washer so not very pretty, but does the job.

Steve Ashton made reference to a magnetic kilt pin in one of his posts. Don't know where it came from or if he stocks them, but it is another possibility.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I suppose it may be a nightmare for security personnel when something like the Tartan Army descends upon some foreign airport in some remote province where a man in a kilt has never been seen.
probably would relieve the boredom of the conventional security checks
