Speaking of ink, here is my tattoo (just have one) of the Clan Macpherson badge, depicting the crest of my Chief, Sir William Macpherson of Cluny and Blairgowrie. I've had since 2009, simple black and white design based off of Roderick Gordon Macpherson's (of Canada) spectacular heraldric artwork.

Kevin: I meant the one on your leg. I didn't realize you had the arm done as well. Did you post that over at AHS? Can't imagine I'd forget that. Both of them are fantastic! (Dare I ask where the third is located?)
Caol: That is some marvelous work! In the picture, it almost looks like a person could reach out and unbuckle the belt! The shading gives it a grand 3-D effect. Does it really appear that way in real life?

 Amazing work, both of you.

No need for the patronizing attitude, Mr. Henry: I'm quite knowledgeable about Scots heraldry.

Thank you, MoR, for clearing the cobwebs out of my mind on this with your post above.

Yes, I have the LP hanging in my living room. It reads:
"And further ( secundo ) we do hereby Grant Warrant to the Lyon Clerk to matriculate in Our said Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland in name of the Petitioner the following Ensigns Armorial as also depicted upon the right margin hereof, VIDELICET:- Quarterly, 1st, Argent, a rock Gules; 2nd, Or, a dexter hand fesswise couped Gules holding a cross crosslet fitchee in pale Azure; 3rd, Or, on a sea undy Azure and Argent a lymphad sails furled oars in saltire Sable flagged Gules; 4th, Argent, in chief two eagles' heads respectant erased Gules beaked and eyed Azure, in base a salmon naiant Proper, overall a cross raguly Sable charged at the centre with a maple leaf and in chief and in base with two fleurs de lys Or and in the flanks with two salmon naiant Argent, a bordure indented Vert. The Shield ensigned of an ecclesiastical hat corded and tasselled of one tassel on either side Sable, and in an Escrol under the same this Motto "Honestas Altera Merces"; and for his Lay heirs an Helm befitting their degree, with a Mantling Gules doubled Argent, and on a Wreath of the Liveries is set for Crest a beaver sejant erect holding in its dexter paw a Lochaber axe Proper, and in an Escrol over the same this Motto "SEEK HONOUR BY DOING GOOD."
It is clear from the LP that my father, the Petitioner, was not granted a crest. I may need to backtrack slightly, though...I said that Lord Lyon would not grant a crest to my father. Actually, my father in his Petition, did not pray for a crest, for the very reason that he was a Clerk in Holy Orders. If he had wanted one, I am sure Lord Lyon would have seen fit to grant one--but maybe not!

You are correct, I believe. Lord Lyon does grant crests to clerics, but generally they prefer a hat, with a separate grant of a crest to the lay heirs.

That is good information to know!

In my communication with Lord Lyon Blair, he indicated that he preferred not to grant crests to priests, but would entertain the possibility if the petitioner really wanted one.
