Quite correct. The cope is a processional garment; the chasuble is a eucharistic vestment.

I think that is it! A well-made well-fitting kilt can be dressed down and still look incredible. While the opposite can be said of a poor-fitting lesser-quality kilt.

Yeah I argee. A sportkilt can't compare to a nice hand made wool kilt. You can load a bunch of garbage onto it (like the drum major I earlier posted) and you may not notice it's a sportkilt. But a well made high quality kilt can be worn with a sporran and a polo shirt and look fantastic. (iron madden shirt in nighthawks situation)

Yes that is the nub of what I was talking about. This very plainly dress fellow in his exquisite kilt outshone most of the men in black Argyll jackets and Prince Charlies and less-striking kilts. Less is more, if the kilt is top-drawer.

IMO, a kilt is very much like a well-made bespoke suit, and unfortunately, some men wear them better than others. I've seen a lot of guys who seem to have been born to wear a tailored suit, and it looks as natural on them as a pair of faded jeans and a t-shirt. Likewise, I've seen a lot of guys who seem to have been born to wear a kilt, and although the kilt may not have been of the highest quality, it just seemed to be made to be worn by that particular fellow and he out-shined many others wearing much higher quality kilts, but who lacked either the build or the panache, or both.

Maybe. But the first pipe band I was in was not military and the pipemajor wanted all the pipers to wear feather bonnets and to look much like these fellows pictured. Perhaps the example of these chaps was a bit exaggerated.
