Hello from a newbie!
Hello! I'm new on the board, but have loved kilts for a long time. I'm a bit Scottish way back, belonging to the Donald clan. My husband is Scottish from the Donald clan as well. He was born in Trinidad, but his grand parents are from Scotland, and he darn well looks the part!
We are both very proud of our heritage and love going to the games. We're in Central Florida.
He wore a kilt for our wedding, and wears it whenever he gets the chance! Formal events, Sci-Fi conventions, or really just whenever. I remember we went to the movies once and we wore the kilt. A kid stopped him and asked him why he was wearing a skirt! So he properly schooled the kid.
I've joined the board with a goal to hopefully make or at least order a custom kilt. Any advice will be greatly heeded! Where does one find a pattern to make a kilt? Or are there any kilt makers in Central Florida?
I also want one for myself one day!
Thank you everyone, I am excited to join such a neat forum!

Welcome to XMArks. There is plenty of info here in the DIY "Do it Yourself" and tutorial sections of the forum. I have also included a link which will take you to an instructional guide for making a box pleated kilt which was put together by Barb and Matt. If you are interested in making your own kilt, you will greatly benefit from reading the info Barb, Matt and others have contributed to the forum.
Hope this helps and I am sure others will step up and provide you with some further direction and valuable input.

Added this link--this is a how to guide for sewing your own kilt which was put together by Alan H, I believe:
New Link for downloading the X-Kilt manual as of 2/14/2011:
http://cmgm.stanford.edu/~ahebert/Xk...t2ndedRevK.pdf
This is the second edition, which includes Tartan Hikers construction notes and sydnie's Reverse Kinguisse X-Kilt instructions, as well as a revised description of the part in the first edition that confused more people than all the rest of the manual put-together....the over-apron strip..
