Do you have to be an Eagle Scout (which I am not) to do the Wood Badge?
Nope. Any regestered adult Scout leader Male or Female can attend wood badge I encourage you to contact your local scout Council.

As a former... scratch that... once a scout, always a scout... As a scout myself (formerly of troop 262), I love the way a kilt looks with the BSA uniform. Congrats on everything (the new kilt, the acheivment with the scouts, and converting your son).
I look forward to participating in the Scouts with my son when he is old enough. I also hope he figs kilts as much as his dad does.
Good on you, and thanks for the post.

My son asked for a kilt, while we were at the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games, the beginning of June. We ordered him a PV MacLaren that is built for him to grow with (he is 13). He should earn Star by August, and has in his mind to wear his MacLaren kilt when he has an Eagle Court of Honor in a year or two.
Less than a year ago he was horrified that I might purchase a "man skirt". Now he wants a MacLaren and when he stops growing a full on tank in Elliott (that is our family heritage).
I have successfully converted my own!!!

Terrific! I'm a Canadian Scouter and have worn my Robertson kilt with the uniform on occasion. If I'm not mistaken, a MacLaren donated the land for Gilwell park. Is that how you understand the association of MacLaren Tartan and Woodbadge II Training?

On the question of the MacLaren connection, yes a MacLaren donated the money to buy Gilwell Park. I believe that a different MacLaren was an Assistant Scoutmaster at Brownsea Island, the first organized campout.
