I think there is something there if everyone wears their "regimental" tartan, but otherwise has the same uniform. Then you could see the various services--provided you knew how to recognize each--while still recognizing the shared commonality of the group.
I would, however, continue to work the group to change the hose to something a bit more pleasant to the eye.
