Yeah, I don't really care what other people think. I just try to be the best version of myself whatever I'm wearing. If someone laughs they reveal their own insicurities by ridiculing difference becasue the abnormal is an easy target. Much easier than dealing with their own sub-surface issues. Most of those people fit into one group 1. the idiot who uses insult and derision to make himself look cooler to his fellows and to make himself feel better inspite of his own insicurities. You can either ignore them (because what they think is imaterial) or you can confront them to shame them because they have no recourse to the "victim" displaying power.
I usually ignore everyone who is being a jerk as it only ends up ruining my good time if I dwell on it. Plus I make it a point to frequent places that are populated by people who are cooler and smarter than that anyway. Pretty easy to avoid the "fat heads" if you know where to go.

After dawning the beloved kilt, even if I had ZERO scottish blood, I would still wear the kilt as it is hands down more comfortible than any other alternative.

My granddaughter (aged 14) came up with something the other day.
She told me whenever someone at school calls her names or makes some silly comment, she says to them.
"Thanks for saying that, does that make you feel better now?"
She says they are usually too stupid to think of an answer!
Chris.

Don't worry, because you've stopped wearing kilts, right?

Does the dawning of the kilt relate to "the" question? Let the sun shine, let the sun shine in, the su-un shine in!"

Yes, but I still have pictures up in the gallery. Thankfully, none of them are pleat shots from the backside.

From the darkness of the trousers
To the dawning of the kilt.
Let the sun shine,
Let the sun shine in,
The su-un shine in!
Love it.

I am neither Scottish or Irish. Don't have any heritage reasons to wear Kilts. And, yet, as an Englishman, I wear them on occasion. Casual or dressed up, couldn't really give a fig about what other people think of me. I just enjoy the fashion and creative aspect, and people who think its about cross-dressing are off the mark, although does make me laugh! Throughout generations, the two genders have worn many many different styles of clothes. This evolution of costume has culminated in very typical modes of dress for modern man, but very wide ranging for females. Conforming to these so-called ideals is not exactly expressing ones self. As an aside, I believe that in general, most of the garments in use today, whether its a uniform for work or going out, are increasingly uninspired and rather scruffy. It would be nice to see a return to swanky dressing as whole. I think a lot of people would actually enjoy it...
