Im saving bandwidth by not quoting the link and it's pics again, but looking at the coatee that is pictured there, i guess we can see why the prince charlie of today has 4 buttons on each of the tails too... Gotta love fashion... From form and function to decoration...

In the British military, from at least the 18th century, various regiments had variously coloured facings. Blue for Royal regiments; for the rest various colours.

Barnes gives these, for the Scottish regiments, for the year 1800:

    Regiment number, facings colour:

    2nd, blue
    3rd, blue
    1st, blue
    21st, blue
    25th, yellow
    26th, yellow
    42nd, blue
    71st, buff
    72nd, yellow
    73rd, dark green
    74th, white
    75th, yellow
    78th, buff
    79th, dark green
    90th, buff
    91st, yellow
    92nd, yellow
    93rd, yellow

In 1881 many of these traditional facings colours were abolished: all Scottish regiments were ordered to adopt yellow facings, save for the Royal regiments which retained their blue facings.

The Highland Light Infantry and The Seaforth Highlanders later regained their traditional buff facings.

    How hard?

So if I were to take these instructions to a local tailor would there be any special challenges in reproducing the garment? The tailor in question has previously made me a tweed shooting jacket that I would put up against any store bought coat I have seen.

Probably only price... I have a seamstress friend who knows a tailor... His response in a doublet for me was it would likely be more than buying one... of course if you cant buy what you want because nobody makes it, then i guess thats a different matter...

Well here's my first run at the skirts... Thoughts?

I know I need to do an overlap on the back flaps, but it was easier to just mirror at the moment...
