I started using hem tape on several sections, but im not sure if thats the best route,
It's not the best route if you plan on washing or drying your kilt. It will harden up over time, lose it's holding power and possibly breakdown into a powdery residue. Commercial grade hem tape which is hard to get a hold of is better, but will eventually breakdown as well, but probably long after you stopped wearing it.
