I guess it's not really a stupid question. I don't think my glasses go particularly well with the type of kilt outfit I like (more traditional), as they are more modern in style. They are my first pair of glasses, and while I love the look of horn-rims, I wasn't really able to pull off the look, so I'm stuck with my:

(which I happen to like very much!)

Still, I consider myself a tradtionalist, in that I take the traditions of kilt wearing (and dress in general) into consideration, and generally try to dress as best I can without looking over/under dressed or sticking out too much. Perhaps my next pair will be slightly more old-school...

    Something like this perhaps... ;)

    Cheers,

    Michael

In terms of eyeglasses, frankly I'm more concerned with what the world looks like to me than what I look like to the world! My glasses were chosen because I can poke them back over my ears while wearing a whole-face motorcycle helmet.

Seems to me that the appropriate kilt car would be a Jaguar. XK-120 to E-series. Or a Land Rover.

I used to really like Jags, but then they were bought by Ford and I think they look too much like a Taurus sedan.

I use a pocket watch. I remember looking at my grandfather's pocket watches and wanting one when I was a little kid, though he had already passed away.

I also remember being constantly ridiculed in jr high by a computer teacher for using a analog pocket watch, instead of a digital watch.

I really like the look of a pocket watch. I have a nice one that is sentimental to me as well that I like to wear as much as I can. I think a pocket watch adds a certain stylish dignified look to the kilt when worn in a traditionally inspired manner.

What glasses? The other "accessory" your wearing on your right arm distracted me!

Ford doesn't own them anymore, and I'm not sure what cars you're referring to but I think that throughout Ford's ownership Jaguar maintained much of their original character. I think since the days of British Leyland Jags have seen generally successful times.

Anyway, my ultimate kilt-car would be a mk 2 Jag!

See, that's one of my fashion bylaws; stand next to the right people and nobody gives a damn what you look like!

FYI: that shot is from the recent ApolloCon Sci Fi convention in Houston, the accessory in question is my friend the lovely and talented Austin based author, artist, musician, media critic, etc...and all around sweetheart, Gabrielle Faust. http://www.gabriellefaust.com/
