What a lovely Crommach, and a wonderfully thoughtful gift, there is no doubt you are happy with it, it really is a fine piece, and something you will I am sure cherish forever. Thank you for adding it.

I just picked up a couple of new sticks from my favorite carver:

    The snake charmer

    The eagle

    and Old Man Scotland

I have enough now that I had to go out and get a stick stand

I finally found a decent walking stick at a local antique shop for a whopping $5. It's not nearly as fancy as some, but it's still a pretty cool find. Once I got it home I needed to find somewhere to store it. Enter the ashtray stand!
My late uncle (who died 7 years before I was born) built the stand in a high school shop class back in the late 40's. It's the only thing I have of his, but I never really knew what to do with it. No-one smokes in my family, so it was sitting in the basement collecting dust. Well...a couple of discreet 3/4" holes drilled into the base and voila...instant walking stick/umbrella stand!

    Al,

That makes a wonderful stick stand.

But as your collection grows you probably need another!

    Cheers

Every once in a while someone on the site inspires me, such has it been with Panache and his collection of walking/hiking sticks. I was therefore very glad to find an elegant cane/walking stick on ebay. Once I saw it I decided to just go ahead and hit the buy it now button, I've lost out to a few others on something like this. It arrived today and I hastily took these photos.
