    Hmmm, it could work..Sturgis has a population of about 6,500...Alexandria, MN has a population of about 8800....

    Another thought for the kids.

    Back in '58 when I was in high school we had a "strict" dress code...no narrow belts, that sort of silliness.

    So we rebelled by meeting the dress code, but we did it with mismatched, icky color combinations, and geekie looking clothes. Some of us looked like well meaning hicks from the sticks, but met dress code, others looked like parrots that had been blown up and glued back together by a drunk..

    The school administration never gave in, but we made our point very loudly and very noticeably...school hallways looked like a weird carnival had come to town.

    And....you'd think the school administration there would have been very happy to see a guy wearing a sporran...kind of works like a bundling board for slow dances....

    I will defer to Matt Newsome--he is the real expert--but the short answer is that Highlanders were dressed like the Irish--leine and brat (mantle). Lowlanders dressed much like the English. Wallace was a lowlander.
