It has a siver tip with a rubber end, I'll get a shot of it when I get home, and yes it does have some heft to it but not too much.

It arrived today and I hastily took these photos.

VERY handsome piece of kit! Looks like an excellent purchase.

Attention anyone that's interested in obtaining an Irish blackthorn walking stick...
LollySmith.com just got a new batch of Pug's Ugly walking sticks cut from Irish blackthorns with "root knob" handles. The cool thing about their site is that they name and post a pic of each stick individually along with it's stats (diameter, length, knob description). That way you get to choose the exact blackthorn that you want and know what it will look like.
They posted over 20 blackthorns on their site at 8pm tonight (Oct. 31) and I was lucky enough to get first dibs. All but one of them sold out in just a few hours. They will be posting the next bunch online on Saturday (Nov. 1) evening at 10pm EST. Their blackthorns range in price from about $39.00 to about $49 which is a pretty decent price. They also only charge exact shipping cost without adding a handling fee. Plus, they offer ferrules and rubber tips for a small additional fee.
Check them out here: http://www.lollysmith.com/irblwast2.html
Remember, they sell out fast so be sure to visit the site tomorrow night at 10pm EST if you want one.
Here's the last one available from the first batch...
