Day 5 - On to Edinburgh!
It was time to leave Pitlochry. Departing my hotel the Ascarsaid, I had only good feelings of it. Their breakfasts are to die for. I highly recommend the hotel to any future travelers to Pitlochry.
The last four days had been completely chock-a-block, yet there were things left not done. Didn’t see a show at the theater, missed the fish ladder, and didn’t have the time to take the walking path to the world’s smallest distillery, Edradour. That last one would hit real hard in two days time. Sir William it was his favorite single malt and couldn’t get it on our side of the pond. Definitely need to come back. My time with the Donnachaidh Clan had been smashing. They are an excellent group of folks. The first of my four part journey was closed.

Day 5 - Parting pix of Pitlochry.
It was a dizzily morning. I wanted to capture my remaining moments in this delightful town.
Flower garden in city center.
The grey Crail jacket I could have had was locked behind those doors!
Town street views.
My first day here, I purchased a Malcolm ancient tartan necktie here. No, I would never wear it with my kilt.

Day 5 - Parting pix of Pitlochry: Meeting a fellow kilted.
As I walked down the street to the train station, I came across another kiltie! Larry Wilkie had told me there were two full time kilt wears in town. This fellow wouldn’t have been one of them as they were described as ‘retired.’ I called out to the young man and introduced myself and asked if we could have a photo together which I would post on this forum. He agreed. I gave him one of my clan cards which has this URL listed. His name is Jasper.
I regret that I took off my ball cap for this photo, as then I could have said two kilted wearing their native head dress!

Day 5 - Parting pix of Pitlochry
Here are some pix of the train station.
The architecture of this station was remarkable.
I thought this used book shop was ingenious in their approach to aid the charities.
I never complained about the rain in Scotland. Here are the results of it.
Day 5 to continue later.

Mael,
The single malt I can't get here was Glev Deveron. I'd never had Edradour until I visited the distillery - but we left with a bottle of single malt (now sitting with my other single malts) and the creme liquer. Sadly, the second bottle never made it out of Scotland as the wife and I consumed it over the next ten days -- YUM!
The Edradour distillery is well worth the visit. First, it is small - only one still and its small compared to other distilleries I've seen, and you tour the actual distillery, not some tourist set up. And the single malt is quite good.
Oh, and I did find a bottle of Glen Deveron at Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh. It must be popular as there were only two bottles on the shelf and the second bottle was grabbed before I left the shop.

Forgot to mention, thanks for posting the pics of Pitlochry. We only had time to drive though the village in our search for the distillery. We'd lost about an hour after leaving the Black Watch Museum in Perth due to construction and spent much longer at the distillery than we had planned (though we enjoyed it), so we decided to move on to Inverness so we wouldn't be late meeting Beowulf67.

The photos are truly good, and make me feel as if I were along side you during your journey. You definitely have a keen eye for capturing the essence of the places you have been. Can't wait to see what gets posted next.
