    Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans

There just must be a dragon; wouldn't be the same without one...threatened bride, heroic kilted groom, swordplay, etc. etc. Something like this might serve:

I would definitely counsel simplicity. A few flowers--some in your hair with that dress, I hope--lanturns, and the neckless you mentioned would be very nice. When I performed a Scottish wedding for my friend, SouthernScot, we had a handfasting part in which I wrapped their wrists together with his tartan, symbollically binding them together.

Bottom line: don't spend a bunch of money on foolish things like too many flowers or expensive dresses. Keep it for a downpayment on a house. But those cakes above--not the cheesy one--would be a very nice touch!
LOL! I love that priests were paired with horses, unicorns, fairies, doves, and camels. As though priests dont actually belong at weddings

Oh handfastings are lovely. My wedding will have to be pretty secular considering my religious wedding will be held elsewhere but I wouldnt mind drawing inspiration from other traditions Especially since it's basically a blank canvas for me to decorate!....

oh...and the groom...shoot, I have to include him in planning dont I?... jk

Actually, Meghan, there's enough clergy on this website for a major inter-denominational clergy retreat!

Meghan, we have Anglicans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Wiccans, Pagans . . . . and so it goes

Count me in, honorary uncle. Now that that little matter is settled, just how many Harleys do you want at your wedding? I can arrange anywhere from 1 to a couple of hundred or so, given enough time...

Well, that's not a bad idea, but I've noticed that many women seem to think of it as "my day" rather than a day when "we" join together in holy matrimony. I find your attitude refreshing.

Of course, an outside wedding with flowers in your hair and kilted gentlemen can also be a religious wedding.

But then, we may want to check this guy out before he gets our approval anyway. What are his intentions? What are his prospects? Is he good enough for Meghan? (doubt it!) Does he wear the kilt?

Thank you! I do definitely want his input on wedding plans but I think I can go a little crazy on this one as the intended husband-to-be someday wasn't raised in the States so we would have to have TWO weddings! One with his family overseas and one with mine here. He can go crazy for his wedding and I can go crazy with mine

If you come to my wedding, you could meet him and give him the stamp of approval! Though by then it may be too late. lol. Unless you take inspiration from the Renn Faire wedding and have a sword fight when the minister asks if anyone objects
