Hey RJI,
The kilt looks great, I am sure you made a huge and lasting impression on your co-workers today.
Who knows you may see several more kilts on the next casual day.
Good job!
Jim

Well,
It is day 4 now and I think that the shock is wearing off for most people here. Most people seem content to not worry about it. My only problem is not having enough kilts to wear a different one every day! Basically swapping back and forth between the 2 SW's because the SK is just too casual. Can't wait for my USAK from Rocky to get here.
Might have to get another SW HW just for variety!

See how easy it is
Don't overlook the UK Mocker for office wear. I really like the pockets over the sporran...guess a hold over from bifurcated days, but still convenient.
I'm sitting here in my office wearing my hand sewn tank from Kathy's Kilts, (the Macdonald of Kingsburgh in my Avatar).
This is week nine of wearing kilts to the office full time.
When I came in this morning it was my first day at work in a tank, but had worn one to an office Christmas function last year.
First comment was "I'm glad you finally got the sox right." Was wearing kilt hose pulled up, not pushed down.
Second comment was, "We've got to get a photo of you for the presentation to the Board of Directors later this month!"
So the HR Director took my pic for the board presentation.
I be a happy camper.

Ron, the mocker was actually the first one I thought about buying, but the delivery time was too far out for me. Still got my eye on the new mocker in heather gray. What color do you have?
I am still debating the whole hose issue. During the cool months, having them pulled up, and with my 2 SW's will be no issue, but might be a little warm when summer gets here.
Congrats on the picture!

Hurray!
Well I can finely consider this a successful endeavor! I just got off the phone with HR and was told that there was no problem with my wearing the kilt to the office. Response was a little bit delayed as all of the HR managers were pulled together to insure everyone was on board, which took a couple of days. My HR rep said that everyone agreed with supporting other cultures and traditions in regards to clothing as long as I kept it professional, as everyone had seen over the past 4 days! I am so glad that I did not just wear one last Friday and wait for another "appropriate" day to wear one again.
The only request that HR made, and it was truly a request, was that if we had customers on site, and my manager requested me to do so, that I wear traditional North American clothes (i.e. pants) for that day. I assured her that was not a problem and I had already made that clear to my manager.
I could not have had a better day!
Thanks again for all the support and encouragement from those on this forum!

Of course, if (when) that day comes when you have to shift back to * * ugh * * * troosers, you may develop all kinds of mysterious maladies related to the intense general discomfort of your body . . . ;) . . . "Um, sorry boss, I'm feeling terrible today . . . don't think I can make it into the office . . . "

Sherry, Thanks!!
Mkmound, I have already had those thoughts, but truthfully at this point I think it is a dead issue. Although I agreed to listen and acquiesce to a request to wear "North American" attire if it came up, I really don't think it will. I view it similar to wearing the kilt to the office in the first place. Once people become used to it, they should not care what I wear, which is why I chose to wear it every day since the first time last Friday. Once people are comfortable that it is part of my wardrobe I am free to wear what I want, but to be honest I want to wear a kilt all the time. I think it will be very funny the first time I am forced to wear pants to the office again (by my own chosing not soebody else's) and people ask me where the kilt is! The most likely reason for this right now is my lack of kilts! I have to get at least one more to tide me over until Rocky finishes my newest one.

Great news! After a few weeks things will seem "normal" to the folks at the office.
I honestly think that if I went back to pants at work now it would freak them out worse than the first day kilted did
I really screwed up with the UK Mockers. They didn't look like much to me in on the UK website or in the pics I could find. I bought my first one, olive, second hand from CJ at UK. I liked them so much in person that I now have two more, a navy and a tan.
Today was my first day at the office in a tartan kilt with sporran rather than a PK, FK, UK, or AK. Was sorta worried it would seem too costume like to peers. Turns out they'd been waiting to see a "real" kilt.
So maybe will wear my other tank tomorrow. My X Marks is due soon from Kathy's Kilts and Rocky has a Thomson Gray semitraditional in process...and, oh yeah...I decided to try a black Stewart SportKilt with the sewn pleats, belt loops, and custom length. So dang, I'll soon have five tartan kilts available for the office. My old tartan SportKilts are just too gathery - skirtlike for now. Though did sew pleats into one of them myself and thinking about the other.
Dang...I'm a kilt junkie for sure...when these three roll in think that will bring the kilt count up to 28! Someone lock me up before I kilt again!!
