    If we are going that way, I'd simplify it to "By choice, not Blood." According to this website the latin would be "Per choice, non cruor.

    I've looked at that site. It's not very good.

    Per electus, non consanguinitas is more right.

    Choice, in this case translates as electus, and cruor is the stuff that runs out of your body when you're stabbed. Consanguinitas is the state of kinship.

    Well my gaelic is not very good, but an geall air is something like 'with the mind set upon...' or 'with the heart set upon...' which as close to the spirit of 'jones' as I can get. Where are some of the real gaelic speakers on this board?
