Hey . . .David (piperdbh) AND MoR at Greenville?
Count me in. This is starting to look like a lot of fun.
And a chance to win a dram from Jock!

I don't think that it would be any more on topic in tartans and heraldry MOR but I think we have covered just about everything we can
Love the idea of having a good rumbustious discussion with you over a pint at the games though (besides getting those photos of Prince Edward in his kilt)!

Might be worth the 12 hour drive to see that spectacle....

I didn't go last year, but I may come down this year.
Pack carefully, mates. Greenville can be really hot. Two years ago I personally witnessed 3 pipers go down with heat exhaustion.

Two years ago it was hotter than the proverbial "hinges of Hades" due to a heat wave that gripped much of the South. Last year the temperature was much more pleasant and never really went beyond the low-to-mid 80s. Having this year rescheduled the Greenville Scottish Games for May (instead of the previous June date) temperatures should be comfortably in the upper 70s or very low 80s.

Jock,
I really must take issue. In the South we drink BOURBON. Really, throw that Scottish "way of thinking" "in the bin."
Cordially,
David

What is going on here? Bin wars?
Far from me to point out the obvious, hehehe, but we are on a kilt webite, talking about kilts which as every one knows is Scottish attire being worn in this particular circumstance at a highland games in er, well, the USA. I think BOURBON is out voted in this case.
However, if BOURBON is all there is for Jim to buy me, then I will happilly and graciousely accept that as my winnings. Mmuwhahaha.

David, as a life-long, dedicated, dyed in the wool, Southern-by-the-Greace-of-God, born-again Southerner, I must say that bourbon is only allowed on my palate if there is no scotch--the aqua vitae, the dew of Heaven, drink of the gods--anywhere within driving distance. (Driving distance= 50 miles)
I assure you that Jock will be purchasing only the finest scotch for my enjoyment, and I will trust in his decision, as I am certain that even a "thrifty" Scot would not pinch at that. And for anyone else meeting up in Greenville, I assure you a wee dram of the finest single malt my poor purse will be able to afford that day.
Personally, I like a good, peaty whisky, but if you, Jock, should decide on some of that milder, rooky lowland stuff, it, too, will suffice. Laphroiag is always acceptable, but then Highland Park is nice and a better buy.
