    Piper Chick,
One of the images of this year's kilt camp that Barb and Steve ran at Hamilton College captured a few of the participants lined up in alternate kilts that we took to camp. There was no collusion, but all three were in the same tartan. One was pleated to the stripe, one was in an artificial fibre, and mine is wool pleated to the sett. Other campers probably had kilts in the same tartan back home. You guessed it, isle of skye.
    Good thread.

I have an Isle of Skye (love it), which was once known around these parts as XMarks hunting, and I would like to be able to get my hands on a Dutch Friendship but that one is so hard to get a hold of. Here's a piccy of Dutch Friendship (if you haven't already seen it):-

I'm enough of a traditionalist to prefer that ladies (except when in uniform) wear skirts and leave kilts to men, but short of a formal event, there's really no reason in modern society why a lady shouldn't wear a kilt if she chooses to.

As for my favorite "universal" (more or less) tartans... Commonwealth (or State) of Kentucky, Police Officers' Memorial (from USA Kilts), Irish American, R'lyeh and the XMarks tartan.
