I chatted with the seller and as it happens they did think the sporran was Edwardian (perhaps not knowing what "Edwardian" means) and they've changed their listing.
Most people who see that Patent stamp don't know what it's about or when it was used.
Yes it's a nice example of WE Scott's older, superior work.
And recently there was an older EW2 on Ebay with the older-style cantle with backplate. I really like those cantles!

I think the cantle and chain were worth the price. The leather of the strap will be completely replaced (easy enough for me to do). The back face and pocket need a cleaning, but the leather should be re-usable.
The front face is suffering from a severe case of Sporran Pattern Baldness, so it will need to be removed and replaced with some other type of pelt. Rabbit is easily available and fox (and skunk, badger, beaver and coyote) can be found at my favorite online vendor for Mountain Man re-enacting and Native American supplies. Need to study how the edge piece is put on, since I haven't worked with furs before.
Tested a polishing cloth on the cantle and I think it should mostly clean up with a little effort. Only concern is the center circle, that may have corrosion which broke thru the plating. Need to test a few solvents (mainly acetone and isopropanol) to see if it is just a gum buildup.
The tassels are in rough shape. One fell off while in transit. Should be able to re-use the metal "bells" and the chains.

Looking forward to seeing your progress Mick. Glad one of "us" got it.
As I said before, I could handle the strap, but other than that... leather is not my medium - wood is.

I'm better with leather work, but also do a bit of wood work and metal work. Have no experience so far with fur work. Probably practice with a cheaper piece of rabbit before trying something expensive.

WE Scott white fur Evening sporran, looks like the cantle is silverplated, $16 opening bid, here in the USA.
I'm guessing it's from the 1960s or thereabouts. It might be the artificial fur they were using then, though usually it looks more yellowish.

That does look yellowish in the pictures when viewed on my monitor. Even if it is fake-fur, still a good price for a silver plated cantle. Just what I need, another project.
