Wrote a few letters to the editors or reporters of several Scottish newspapers to expose them to the story, and all its subsequent ramifications. Will await any interest or responses they may have. Too early yet to tell. Will keep you posted.

Proud to see nearly 6700 viewings of this thread to date, similar postings on other kilt and scots sites, ESPN, Facebook, and elsewhere with similar support. Again, thanks for your support.

"Kilted Golfer Denied..." makes it into print in Sunday Sept 5, 2010 edition of Scotland on Sunday, at least the electronic edition available online tonite:

    http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com...oon.6513546.jp

No photos on the free version, not certain what is there for registered users of the site, but I did send all my pictures to them for potential use. If any of our Scots friends can let me know if this is a print newspaper as well, and if so grab a copy of the article for me, I would appreciate it greatily, and will cover the costs of getting it across the Atlantic to me for my personal perusal and collection. Thanks to all for all the support.

Hi, Jeff – glad to see that the story made it to the Scottish press, pictures or no pictures.
I trust Royal Troon is hanging its head in shame!

    Good Going Jeff!

I often get in debates with my wife over whether an issue is worth fighting for, I will often take the side that principle matters. If everyone was just willing to get PO'd but not is a courteous and respectful manner contest their issue we will be in a sad state of affairs. I have had indifferent cashiers incorrectly tally a grocery order with lots of items at $2 over the correct price and insisted they correct the total. Thrifty Rental car recently tried to charge me for a tank of gas at inflated prices because I returned the car full but could not produce the receipt for the gas. I vehemently contested this and they backed off.

I am glad to see the Scotsman took up your issue and it seems the comments are running well in your favor.

Congratulations on getting The Scotsman's attention. I'm not sure, though, that Royal Troon won't circle the wagons and take on a defiant and defensive attitude. The sort who would deny you kilted golf sometimes take a perverse pleasure in being portrayed as excessivley conservative...

It appears that you managed your interaction with The Scotsman well, as they clearly adopted your view of the events, and cast Royal Troon on the defensive. Well done advocacy. Your point has been made, heard and accepted in Scotland. You should feel no small amount of satisfaction in your success, and your long suffering wife should be reassured that having had some satisfaction, you will no longer need to pursue the matter. May you both have peace at last!

    Bob

I do and she is, and she thanks you for your recognition of her part in this endeavor. And, for the most part, we do, at last.

The story is still making the rounds, now with a lament written to commemorate the events:

I thought it was pretty good, but not speaking scots could not be 100% sure.

    cheers
